Amazoom

An online camera store: catalogue, cart, orders and an admin back office. Written in plain PHP and JavaScript, no framework.

Academic team project at Cégep de Sherbrooke. The repository is not public.

Amazoom is an online store specialising in cameras: the customer browses the catalogue, adds listings to their cart and places an order, while an administrator manages inventory from a back office.

No framework, on purpose

Everything is plain PHP and JavaScript. Routing, sessions, cart persistence and database queries are hand-written.

Writing session handling yourself before you’ve watched Laravel do it shows what the framework is doing on your behalf. Ludix, the following year, moved to Laravel.

Mockup first

As on Ludix, I designed the interface in Figma before writing any code. On a three-person project with an academic deadline, a settled mockup saves half the discussions.

Highlights

  • Full customer journey: product catalogue, listing pages, cart and checkout.
  • A back office where an administrator creates and manages the sale listings.
  • No framework: plain PHP and JavaScript. Routing, session persistence and cart logic are hand-written.
  • I designed the mockup in Figma before integration, as on Ludix. A team of three.
